Logan exhibits grace under pressure, professionalism

"Logan and Manyon meet again"

GMTV reporter Lara Logan has been forced to share a tent with her nemesis, ITN's Asia correspondent, Julian Manyon, in a bizarre entente cordiale.

American officials have arranged for the two journalists to be housed together at the so-called Camp Viper tented city in Bagram.

Manyon irritated Logan last year when he wrote in the Spectator that Logan's "charms" had helped her secure access to General Babajan, a leader of Afghanistan's Northern Alliance.

He wrote that "delectable" Logan "exploits her God-given advantages with a skill that Mata Hari might envy".

Logan immediately hit back in a despatch to MediaGuardian.co.uk, suggesting Manyon's attack was founded in jealousy. She pointed out that he was 20 miles away from the front line and contacted her to ask for help.

"If General Babajan smiles around me, perhaps it is because I offer him respect and attempt, at least, to talk to him in a non-demanding manner," she continued.

"It's an elementary part of making contacts and getting the story."

Last night Logan was less keen to aggravate the situation. "I don't have a problem sharing a tent with him. We're both professionals out here doing a job and have to make the best of things," she told the Sun.

ITN's Manyon, 51, was quoted saying he and Logan had put their differences aside.

"We have already shaken hands," he said. "Lara is a very professional young lady."
